FIRST LOOK at what the old Green Water Treatment plant (Block 1) will look like.

It’s been a long time coming for the $500M Green Water Treatment Plant redevelopment, situated along Cesar Chavez, bounded to the west by Shoal Creek, and to the east by Silicon Labs.  I’ve stumbled upon good reason to be excited that development could soon begin.

Trammell Crow has just released a rendering of the final design for the project.  Condo buyers don’t get too excited yet…..we’re still hearing this is an apartment project, not condo.  Though I suspect some condo sales to be announced very soon, so stay tuned!

Building site shown in orange, Road extensions shown in black.

We expect work to begin late 2013, or early 2014 with a completion time somewhere early 2015.  This site is also rumored to have an HEB.  I’ll keep watching this one as it’s been on a lot of people’s radar.    Here is the rendering, what do you think.  It’s definitely a turn away from the light colored, blue glass buildings we’ve been getting the last few years downtown.  The more I look at it the more I start to really like it.  I also like that they have stair stepped it away from the river.
