Austin could get new tallest tower, called Waller Center

Waller Center, Downtown Austin

I’m excited to see the plans coming together for a new project downtown called Waller Center, located at the corner of the Rainey Street district and the convention center.  Waller Center is an impressive, mixed-use downtown development, proposing three towers for residential, hotel, office, and retail use.

Waller Center will sit on three acres near East Cesar Chavez and Red River streets, along the banks of Waller Creek. The vision includes using Waller Creek as an active edge with shops and restaurants along the creek.  This project will have a significant economic impact for Austin.

This rendering shows just how large the project could be.  I’ll keep watching this one for you and bring you the latest developments.  What I can tell you now is demolition permits have been filed with the city of Austin to remove the old buildings currently on the site.
